A twist for your mincemeat sweet apart from the traditional Mince Pies
[adrotate group="2"] [adrotate group="4"]Prepare the pastry and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Butter grease a 28cm/11inch tart pan.
Lay the pastry and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before adding the filling.
Peel, core and slice the apples (for the center flower I sliced them even thinner to make it easier to turn them in a circle).
Place the sliced apples in a bowl. Sprinkle with some sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice.
Remove the prepared pastry from the fridge, spread a thin layer of mincemeat on top of the pastry, scatter roughly chopped walnuts and layer the apples on top.
Brush the apples with melted butter and bake in oven 180C/350F till apples are golden and pastry is cooked.
Remove from oven and while the tart is still warm, heat the apricot jam with a little water and brush the top of the apples to give them a shiny glaze.
Enjoy!
