Potatoes Au Gratin

These potatoes are so delicious! An easy and impressive side dish. Made simply with sliced potatoes, garlic, heavy cream and parmesan cheese. Please do try!

Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 4 Medium Potatoes (peeled)
  • 1 Tub (280ml) Double Cream (Heavy Whipping Cream)
  • ½ Cup Shredded Cheddar
  • 6 Tbsp Parmesan Cheese (divided)
  • 3 Cloves Garlic (minced)
  • ¼ Tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • Salt & Pepper
Method
  1. Preheat oven 190C/375F.

  2. Butter grease a baking dish with unsalted butter.

  3. Very thinly slice potatoes, using a mandoline, if you have one.

  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine cream, cheddar, garlic, nutmeg and 3 tablespoons parmesan.

  5. Add sliced potatoes and toss together until all potatoes are well coated. Season with salt and pepper and toss again.

  6. Place the potatoes upright in prepared baking dish. 

  7. Evenly pour remaining cream over the potatoes and lightly season with salt and pepper.

  8. Dot with 2 tablespoons (small cubes) of butter.

  9. Cover baking dish with foil and bake in oven for 45 minutes.

  10. Uncover, sprinkle top with remaining parmesan and continue to bake for another 30 minutes or until potatoes are cooked and golden.
