Flaky, golden pastries filled with creamy Nutella, perfect for a sweet, indulgent treat shaped in Hearts for your valentine!
Nutella Puff Pastry Hearts
Ingredients
Method
-
Lay out a pastry sheet, leaving it on its packaging paper.
-
Spread nutella filling and cover with second sheet of pastry.
-
Place the filled pastry in the freezer for 15 minutes before cutting the strips (this will make it easier to cut without pulling the pastry and keeping everything clean).
-
Cut 1-inch strips across the pastry. Turn over edges to meet in the middle. Fold up into the shape of a heart and insert a skewer stick diagonally in the middle.
-
Place on baking paper in a shallow dish and brush the sides and tops with beaten egg.
-
Bake in preheated oven 200C/400F for 20-30 minutes, until pastry is golden.
-
Remove from oven and leave to cool. Insert strawberries threw the skewer sticks and sprinkle with icing sugar.
-
Enjoy!
Note
- Skewers - Soak skewers in water before so they won't burn whilst baking.
- Puff Pastry - Not all pastry sheets are the same size. Mine was 10 x 13 inches (25cm x 33cm) so I cut the strips from the longest side.
- If the length is bigger than 13" cut from the shorter side.
